The Nordic Palestinian Film Festival (NPFF) was founded in 2022. The premiere of its first edition in 2024. The festival presents filmmakers who advocate for justice and view film as a significant force in society. We firmly believe that audiences find it easier to engage with human stories through films rather than the news. NPFF is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization. The film festival aims to raise awareness in the Nordic countries about the history and culture of Palestine, fostering cultural exchange between Nordic communities and Palestinians. Our goal is simply to introduce Scandinavians to Palestinian culture. NPFF organizes film festivals in major cities across the Nordics. The festival will also bring together diaspora Nordic and Palestinian cultural workers such as film directors, musicians, and poets to connect through Palestinian culture. Proceeds from NPFF will support young filmmakers in Palestine, operating in Gaza and the West Bank, to develop their film projects. Additionally, NPFF aims to subtitle Palestinian films into Nordic languages for better local understanding. We hope to create an online database of old and new Palestinian films. NPFF also seeks to represent Palestinians, along with other minorities living in Nordic cities, as valuable contributors to modern social and cultural life. NPFF founder Wafa Jamil is also the head of Sard Films and she continues to believe in the power of cinema to inspire social change.
